Rashidah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more fresh varieties of food like maize flour, green bananas, beans, and other missing items.

Rashidah's story

Rashidah is 17 years old and lives in the town of Makindye in the Makindye region of Uganda. For the past 3 years, Rashidah has been working hard to manage her restaurant, which sells cooked food.

To help expand her business, Rashidah has requested a loan of 1,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more fresh varieties of food like maize flour, green bananas, beans, and other missing items. This loan will help Rashidah generate greater profits and improve her family's standards of living by providing them with enough food. Rashidah hopes that in the future she will be able to open up another restaurant in her village which can create more jobs for youths.

Rashidah is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to micro-finance loans, the program provides as both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and as a forum for life-skills training.
