Jane's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farming inputs such as seeds and high-nutrient fertilizers to improve her harvest and generate more income for her family.

Jane's story

Jane (pictured above in her house) had a tough childhood growing up in a poor village. However, she managed to go to school, though she only completed primary school. Today, she is a mixed crop and banana farmer living in Kerugoya, Kenya. It is through farming that Jane is able to provide decent meals in her home. She loves attending to various farming activities such as harvesting.

In Kenya, agriculture is one of the most competitive industries, especially due to the high cost of operations necessary to improve farming. Such costs include the cost of land acquisition and inputs, which have skyrocketed. To meet the high costs of inputs, farmers have been forced to borrow from financial institutions, which sometimes impose very complicated procedures in loan distribution.

Jane is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as fertilizers to help improve her banana farm. Her remote area has a high demand for bananas and through this loan she will be able to meet the demand and improve her living conditions.
