Alma's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy vegetable seedlings and fertilizers needed to expand their vegetable production that would enable them to cover expenses while waiting for the harvest of their rice farm.

Alma's story

Alma, 48 years old, is married with one daughter who is aged 11 and attending school. Since 2009, she and her husband have been farming for a living. The earnings from this endeavor helped their family cover their most basic expenses. However, Alma admits that relying on rice farming alone for income is rather difficult since they only realize earnings during harvest season, and after deducting debts incurred mostly in neighborhood stores that allow them to get basic commodities on credit terms.

For this, Alma and her husband have started to plant vegetables that they can harvest sooner and sell compared to grain products. Alma is requesting to borrow PHP 30,000 to buy vegetable seedlings and fertilizers needed to expand their vegetable production, which would enable them to cover expenses while waiting for the harvest of their rice farm.

Alma hopes too that this would be a way for their family to avoid getting indebted to stores that put a high price mark up on commodities they take on a credit basis.
