Judy's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped a single mom to buy a variety of cereals from local farmers to sell to her customers.

Judy's story

For a poor single mum to take on a farming business, she requires a sufficient amount of passion, and that is what Judy possesses. Judy describes farming as “the best economic activity."

She has been farming for the last few years. In her village, she practices mixed farming. The income she makes from selling milk is used to meet the basic needs of her household. Although Judy has gathered much experience in this business, she is not comfortable with the small amount she earns, since she is the only breadwinner in her household.

Judy has decided to focus more of her attention on farming. However, she needs to boost her income by buying different varieties of cereals from local farmers and selling them to her customers at the local market. She will earn a commission from these sales that she intends to use to repay the loan and improve her standard of living.

This loan is, therefore, an opportunity that Judy never had before. Her irregular income and lack of collateral were the main drawbacks limiting her from accessing a loan from commercial banks. Thanks to Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva, the life of Judy and her family will be changed by this loan.
