Flor De Cafe Group's story
Serapio is 61 years old, he is married and lives with his wife in an indigenous community in La Esperanza, Intibucá. 19 years ago he decided to grow coffee because this area is suitable for cultivation. He sells the coffee in the same area to intermediaries. At the moment he is applying for a new loan from the communal bank to buy fertilizers, lime powder, poultry droppings and coffee seedlings. His goal is to continue to expand his small farm by planting more coffee to generate more income. He is a member of the group called "Flor de café", with this new loan comes a new member of the group which comprises 4 people who live in the same community and make a living from agriculture. The value of the loan is 46,000 Lempiras (local currency) to fertilize his coffee fields. Seen in the picture moving from left to right are: Maria Juana, Serapio, Adrián and Maria Gabina.
