Annick's story

Annick is a loving wife and mother to three incredible children. In 2015, their lives were uprooted as political violence swept through their native Burundi. Annick and her family fled to Rwanda as refugees without any savings and with an uncertain future. At the beginning, Annick struggled. Her husband was able to find a job in neighboring Uganda, so Annick was on her own with her children. She was able to save a little money sent from her family living abroad, and Annick slowly began to rebuild stability in her life.

In 2016, with an initial investment of $2,500, Annick started a business with her younger brother selling propane to individual households and businesses throughout Kigali. Since then, she has grown her business steadily. Not only does this business income provide for herself and her family, but Annick also has five employees.

Annick's business is formally registered in Rwanda, and she looks to expanding even more. Annick needs help with some working capital so that she can purchase more canisters for her propane business.
