Las Mariposas De Momos Group's story

The Friendship Bridge "Microcredit Plus" program is empowering more than 30,000 women in Guatemala, including Wendy and seven other women who make up the "Las Mariposas de Momos" Trust Bank. As a result of the program, women are successfully learning to manage their businesses better, to take care of their families better, and increase their self-esteem, as well as assert their rights and make sound decisions.

Wendy is the president of the Trust Bank. The women are looking forward to receiving a loan from Kiva to invest in their different businesses that are convenience stores or the raising animals.

Wendy is 35 years old, married, and has three children between the ages of 6 and 12. She has one year of elementary-school education. Wendy and her husband sell clothes for women, men, and children. She is requesting her first loan from Kiva to buy pants, shirts, blouses, sweaters, and lingerie at the wholesale level.

With the new inventory, Wendy will be able to offer her clients new styles for the summer season. Wendy is sure that the new products will increase her profits so she can invest in her children's education and provide them nutritious food.

Thanks to Kiva investors, the women of the "Mariposas de Momos" Trust Bank are empowering themselves and providing more prosperous futures for their children.
