A loan helped to buy fabric, thread, needles and other accessories.

Sorayda Elena's story

Sorayda is an enterprising woman who is 41 years of age. She had to emigrate with her daughter from another country to be able to make a better living.

She first started her work at a company and when she left that job, she bought her first sewing machine. This made it possible for her to start her sewing business which she has managed for over four years.

Her son is her biggest support and takes care of her daily customers. With his partnership she has grown her business and she is one of the most sought-after seamstresses in the region.

She has decided to take out a loan with Kiva, along with its partner MiCrédito, with which she plans to buy fabric, thread, needles and other accessories. This will allow her to keep up with the customer demand for her service.

Also, in a not too distant future, she would like to have a larger workshop to be able to employ members from her community.
