Hadijah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy new clothes.

Hadijah's story

Hadijah is 21 years old and lives in the town of Kisaasi in the Kireka region of Uganda. For the past 5 years, Hadijah has been working hard to manage her clothing business, where she sells blouses, trousers and dresses.

To help expand her business, Hadijah has requested a loan of 1,800,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy new clothes, and will help Hadijah to generate greater profits.

Hadijah will use the profits of her business to pay school fees for her child, pay household bills and provide basic needs for the family like food and medical care thereby improving on their standards of living. Hadijah hopes that in the future she will be able to open up a big clothing store in order to generate more income.

Hadijah is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
