Cristo La Esperanza 3 Group's story

Martires is a woman who lives in a batey [sugar cane producing community] in the province of La Romana in the Dominican Republic. Despite being a tourist area, La Romana has many communities in which the residents, mostly Haitian immigrants, live in extreme poverty.

Martires is a determined woman who previously sold clothes and hair extensions, but she decided to switch to managing a neighborhood store with her husband because that business offered greater benefits. She did not finish school, having only completed two years of her primary education. However, this has not prevented her from working and helping her family move forward. Martires dreams of someday owning a house and seeing her family have a better quality of life. She needs assistance from the lenders so that she can buy merchandise to restock her store such as rice, oil, sugar, soft drinks, detergents, bread, sausages, and other products.
