Zainabuh's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a deep frying machine.

Zainabuh's story

Zainabuh is 20 years old and lives in the town of Nakifuma in the Kasangati region of Uganda. She is single and has two children, with one of them currently in school. For the past two years, Zainabuh has been working hard to manage her fast foods business, where she sells fries, chicken, fish and liver.

To help expand her business, Zainabuh has requested a loan of 1,300,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase a deep frying machine, and will help Zainabuh to generate greater profits.

Since Zainabuh is a single mother, she will use the profits from her business to pay the children's school fees, buy personal items like clothes for herself and her children, pay house bills, and provide basic needs for the family, like food, thereby improving their standard of living.

Zainabuh hopes that in the future, she will be able to build rentals in order to generate more income.

Zainabuh is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
