Guemou-Kane Group's story

Maïmouna is 47 years old and lives in a rural county in Mali, with her husband and their four children, aged from five to 13 years old. Two of the children go to school.

Maïmouna's dream and hope for the future revolves around improving the living conditions and well-being of her children (providing enough food and ensuring health needs).

She frequents the local weekly markets as well as those in surrounding areas to buy and sell animals. She has three years' experience with this work. Given her unfavorable living conditions, she sought financial support from the micro-finance institution RMCR.

This loan will allow her to purchase additional animals. Obstacles to her work include not having a veterinarian who can treat her animals, as well as animal theft.

Raising livestock is profitable, because her estimated profits is about 8,000 francs CFA each month.
