Tukuange's story

Greetings from Tonga, here is Tukuange she's 40 years old, married with four children and four grandchildren. Two of her children are currently attending school. She applied for her loan from SPBD to help her businesses. Her business is making tapa and crops. Her husband helps her, they are both running it to earn income for their family. They grow watermelon, taro, yam, sweet potatoes and also mulberry.
In the photograph that is the mulberry plant when they harvest it and peel the skin and dry it on the sun. They only needs employees in time of harvesting. Tukuange manages to divide her time wisely in her business to have a spare time for her making tapa and also to help her husband in their plantation. When they earn their income from selling, they use it to make sure there is food on the table for their family and also to help loan repayments and also for the business expenses. They are planning to enlarge their plantation by including growing Tongan Kava or Tongan beer which provides good income for the farmers nowadays. Tukuange is one of SPBD's successful women in their business. Her vision for the future is to improve the standard of her family's living.
