Va'asiale's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to hire people to help her in her weaving and also to buy some materials for her business.

Va'asiale's story

Va'asiale is 60 years old and married with two children. One is currently attending school and one is already finished school.

She's running her weaving business and is weaving mats with some other women in the village in order to be speedy in their weaving. It is her mats that appear in the photograph.

Va'asiale requested her loan from SPBD and used it to buy her materials for her weaving, which is pandanus (leaves from the palm-like pandanus tree used for weaving Tongan mats) and also to hire some people to help her for her own customers apart from the women that joined in the group.

The only challenges that she faces is when she is not able to finish the orders of her customers and then she asks for other women to help, or she needs to hire people but she cannot afford to.

When she sells out her weaving, she earns income to help her family's living and also for her loan repayment. Va'asiale has a vision for the future to educate her daughter and also helping to bring some more income from her husband's plantation.
