Fuente De La Esperanza Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to invest in the purchasing of more piglets, kitchen sets and hammocks.

Fuente De La Esperanza Group's story

The Department of Suchitepéquez is known for one of the rivers that irrigate their lands, called Nahualate. The population of the area works with livestock and agriculture. Taking advantage of this market, 12 women organized themselves to integrate the "Fuente De La Esperanza" Communal Bank. One of them is Amparo, who has the strong desire to continue working to improve the quality of life of her family. She and her companions speak Spanish and also the mother tongue Tzutuhil. For income, they sell crockery, hammocks, chicken for pound, typical food, corn tortillas and also raise animals.

Amparo, 42, is the group's treasurer. She is beginning her first cycle of a Kiva loan. Amparo attended school for two years. She is a married woman and mother of eight children (10-30). With great effort, Amparo offered secondary education to her older children. The youngest child lives with Amparo and attends the third grade of school. To earn a living, Amparo sells hammocks, kitchen sets and pigs. Amparo is requesting a loan from Kiva to invest in the purchasing of more piglets, kitchen sets and hammocks. Amparo ensures that with the variety of its business it will increase sales and attract more customers.

Amparo is one of the 30,000 women who participate in the "Microcredit Plus" program at Puente de Amistad. During the learning process, women empower themselves through topics of self-esteem, health, hygiene and financial education.

Thank you, lenders of Kiva, for the contribution to these women!
