Mujeres De Bendicion De Dios Group's story

Gloria, 38, is the president of the communal bank "Women of Blessing of Dios". She and eight other women are part of the Puente de Amistad community bank. They are from the department (state) Quetzaltenango and they communicate in Spanish. Gloria and the other women join the more than 30,000 women in the "Microcredit Plus" program. They get three important benefits, such as access to loans, monthly training and health services. Women expect to receive training on their rights, savings, hygiene, nutrition and leadership. Gloria and the rest of the women are improving economically through their different businesses, such as the sale of new clothes, natural medicine, prepared food, kitchen utensils and clothing from the United States. Gloria and the other women are requesting their first loan from Kiva to stock their businesses. Gloria, 38, lives with her husband and has four children (two months to 15 years old). To make a living and support her two older children with a full education, she goes out to sell American products in the seven surrounding markets. She is requesting this loan from Kiva because she wants to supply her business with new products. She will buy clothes, frying pans, shoes, toys and bags.
