Cecelia's Group's story
Cecelia C. is from the city of Danlugan, Pagadian City. She is 59 years old. Cecelia is the group leader of a two-member loan group with PMPC. While each member of the group receives individual loans, they are all collectively responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. To make a living, Cecelia owns and operates a business venture planting and harvesting a variety of vegetables for sale. Cecelia has been engaged in her business for over 20 years and earns approximately 7,000 PHP a month. She joined PMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. This will be the fourth loan taken out by Cecelia from PMPC; she has successfully repaid previous loans. Cecelia is requesting a new loan of 5,000 PHP to purchase fertilizers such as manure. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family. About PMPC: Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) is one of the most progressive cooperatives in northwestern Mindanao. It reaches out to the rural poor using the Grameen model.
