Santa Isabel Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a sewing machine and rolls of cloth and thus increase the production of the business.

Santa Isabel Group's story

Looking for an option to eliminate poverty from their families and develop fully as successful businesswomen, Angelica joined nine more women to join the "Santa Isabel" Communal Bank of Puente de Amistad (Friendship Bridge). Angelica and the rest of the women are neighbors of the Department of Totonicapán. She and her companions are dedicated to tailoring, selling fruits, embroidering beautiful blouses (typical "huipiles") and serving their convenience stores. These women have as a life project to have prosperous families, successful businesses and to be women leaders.

Angelica lives with her husband and their two children aged 22 months and 6 years. Angelica has a family business making canvas pants. She has a small workshop where she has installed three sewing machines for a weekly delivery of 800 garments. Angelica hopes that the third Kiva loan will support her to increase the capital and continue investing in the workshop. She intends to buy a sewing machine and rolls of cloth and thus increase the production of the business.

Puente de Amistad's "Microcredit Plus" program provides three great benefits: small loans, education and health for life. The talks given to women like Angelica help them to know about their rights for women, take care of their health and better manage finances.

Thanks to the support of Kiva lenders, women will achieve development for themselves and their families.
