Zacarias's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to cover the maintenance costs of a solar energy home system and a back-up battery to extend its useful life.

Zacarias's story

Zacarias lives near the town of Champotón in the Mexican state of Campeche. He lives in a remote community that, due to the complexity and expense of construction in such terrain, does not have access to the electrical grid. This means that Zacarias and his family must resort to using expensive and polluting diesel lamps or candles to light their home after dark. However, this light is needed so that his children are able to study for school and Zacarias is able to carry out essential household tasks which cannot be completed during daylight hours as he is out working all day.

To resolve this issue, Zacarias has already installed a 325W solar energy system to provide clean electrical energy to light his home and improve their quality of life. However, these systems require regular maintenance to ensure consistent operation. Your loan will help fund Zacarias’s payments to cover the cost of regular maintenance service, and furthermore, provide for a replacement battery when it reaches the end of its product life. By helping Zacarias you will help ensure that this family can continue to enjoy the benefits of clean renewable energy in their home for years to come.
