A loan helped to buy supplies for growing coffee, and to pay workers to weed the land.

Progreso 5 Group's story

Raimunda is 70 years old. She is in a common law marriage, has two children, and lives with her husband in Las Flores, Gracias, Lempira.

Eighteen years ago she decided to start her own business growing coffee. She sells her harvests on her own property and in the local market. She sells green coffee, wet-processed, and dry-processed coffee.

Raimunda is seeking a loan from the institution as part of a group, to buy supplies for planting, and to pay workers to weed her land. Her goal is to expand her sales and buy more parcels of land to plant. With this input she hopes to reap a better harvest.

The group is called Parcela 5, and is made up of four people who all work in the same trade and have a good deal of experience in agriculture. The loan is for 28,000.00 lempiras. They will invest it in maintaining their farms, fertilizing, and growing more coffee. In the photo they appear as follows from left to right: Jesús, Carminda, Raimunda and Dominga.
