Total loan: $250

New Kru, Montserrado, Liberia / Food

Kartumu's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more charcoal and ingredients used to prepare cooked food to sell.

Kartumu's story

Meet Kartumu. She is 49 years old and is a widow with 8 children. Three of her children are in school. Kartumu never had the opportunity to attend school.

She runs a business selling charcoal and cooked food. This is a business she has managed for 26 years without any problems. She got her start up capital from her late husband. She transports supplies to her business site by car. Kartumu works Monday through Saturday.

She has asked for a loan through BRAC Liberia and Kiva Field Partner. The loan will be used to buy more charcoal and ingredients that will be used to prepare cooked food to sell to her good clients. She likes her business because it sends her children to school.

In the future, she wants to build houses for her children and continue their education. Kartumu wishes to say thanks.
