A loan helped to buy fabric for resale.

Salimata's Group's story

This group is composed of 22 women who seized the opportunity to form a banc villageois in their area in December 2008. They all live in the same area and are family, neighbors, and good friends. They all work primarily in commerce.

Madam Mame Issa is the group representative at age 52; she can be found to the left of the photograph with her hand raised. She is married and the mother of one daughter, who currently attends school.

Madam Mame Issa sells various kinds of fabrics (wax, veils, etc.) which she purchases from wholesalers at the central market of the city and resells from home. She has 4 years of experience in this field.

With this new loan, Madam Mame Issa plans to purchase 10 pieces of wax fabric, and 4 30 meter packets of veils which she will resell individually at a profit. Madam Mame Issa will have little difficulty selling her merchandise as she has a loyal clientele.

The revenue from her business allows Madam Mame Issa to cover her family's living expenses and pay for her children's education.
