A loan helped to buy hybrid maize seeds and fertilizer to improve her harvest.

Agnes' Group's story

Agnes is often described as an extremely experienced farmer. She is 64 years old and has ten children. As a group leader, she is representing fourteen farmers in Mumias District, Kenya.

Agnes is returning this season to work with One Acre Fund, as this means that she is able to earn enough to feed her family. She decided to join in 2016 and is happy to have made that decision. Since joining, she has been able to feed her family consistently, which has improved her day-to-day life significantly. Agnes will use the profits from this season to send her children to school.

Agnes’ group will use this loan to buy hybrid maize seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 8.5 acres. Some members of the group will also be buying a solar light as part of the program, so eight lights will be included.
