Total loan: $125

Limuru, Kiambu County, Kenya / Agriculture

Patricia's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as quality seeds and fertilizers to improve her production and increase her profits.

Patricia's story

Patricia (pictured in her shop) resides in the Limuru area of Kenya, an area where most houses have neither electricity nor water connection from the government. Having grown up on a farm, Patricia is no stranger to hard work, and she is ready to roll up her sleeves with the hard work and determination needed to make her farming journey a fruitful one! Thanks to her daily efforts, Patricia has managed to give her family a good start.

Patricia has a farm where she grows crops and raises livestock. She also earns some income from a personal business. She never had a formal college education and is content with the farming lifestyle. The Limuru area is a favorable one for farming, so Patricia is seeking a KES 10,000 loan through Kiva's field partner Juhudi Kilimo to buy farm inputs such as fertilizer to enable her to grow more banana crops, reap maximum profits, and increase her business. Being a woman and accessing funds in Kenya, especially around her village, is very challenging, but Patricia feels relieved knowing there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like herself.

Patricia is always working to improve her family’s living conditions, and her biggest dreams are to become independent and support her family by herself.
