Methusela's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy seeds and plant more cane on her farm to sell to sugar companies and hence increase her profits and improve her living conditions.

Methusela's story

Hello Kiva community!

Methusela is a woman who is very dedicated to her work. She works untiringly every day of the week, from Monday to Sunday. She lives in Kenyenya, a remote town in Kenya. She is happily married and is blessed with adorable children. She has been practicing mixed farming for the last ten years and has gained a great deal of experience.

The Kenyenya area is very populated and the demand for cane farming and cane products is very high. Like many farmers from her region, she finds cane farming very enjoyable and she says that the most enjoyable part about cane farming is the increased profits she enjoys.

Her biggest challenge, however, is meeting the demand that is really high. She lacks funds to grow her cane farm, so she is seeking a loan of 60,000 KES (Kenyan shillings) to buy seeds and plant more cane on her farm. Being a woman seeking to access funds is very challenging, but through institutions such as Juhudi Kilimo via Kiva, she feels relieved knowing that her dream will come true and that she will be able to buy more cane. The extra income she will get will be used to fully repay the loan. Methusela is very thankful in advance for your contribution.
