Claire's Group's story

Claire R. is from the village of Mialen, Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She is 18 years old, single, and the leader of a six-member group loan offered by Kiva partner, GDMPC. While each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are all collectively responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults.
To make a living, Claire owns and operates a specialized retail store. The main source of income for the business comes from selling dried fish in the local community. Claire has been engaged in her business for over two years and earns approximately 8,000 PHP a month from these activities.
In 2009, Claire joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. She has successfully repaid a previous loan of 3,000 PHP from GDMPC. Claire is requesting a new loan of 7,000 PHP, which will be used to purchase additional products to sell. This loan will be her second from GDMPC. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve her family's general living conditions.
