Sylvia's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy liquid soap chemicals and packaging containers.

Sylvia's Group's story

Sylvia's Group is comprised of 2 hard working women. Sylvia is 21 years old and lives in the town of Mityana in the Kiyinda region of Uganda. For the past 3 years, Sylvia has been working hard to manage her manufacturing business, which makes and sells liquid soap.

To help expand her business, Sylvia has requested a share of 2,400,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy liquid soap chemicals and packaging containers, and will help Sylvia to generate greater profits. Sylvia will be able to realise more profits and therefore, she will be able to cater for her family's needs, hence improving on their standards of living. Sylvia hopes that in the future she will be able to operate on a large scale.

Sylvia is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
