Total loan: $10,000

San Francisco, CA, United States / Food

Brittany's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped obtain the equipment and inventory needed to have a stand at multiple farmer's markets to expand the business and bring on a full time staff.

Brittany's story

Growing up in San Diego, CA doesn't give someone a strong entrepreneurial spirit. The area is more known for the laid back atmosphere of the beach culture. However, my dad was the one who gave me that drive. He started his own construction management company and I have fond memories of spending time in his office playing games and doing homework while he ran a business. I was able to see first hand the hard work and dedication his partner and himself put into the company to make it successful. My desire to create my own beautiful pastries and desserts started from such a young age, but the idea of owning and running a company did not occur to me until after finishing culinary school. All the work I created up to that point was always given away to friends and family because I wanted to see what people liked and what was not popular. My drive continued to grow as I finished school and began working full time in bakeries. There, I began learning the ins and outs of running business and started a side business of making wedding cakes. It grew tremendously by word of mouth to the point I was cutting off orders on a regular basis. Having a side business has been a part of my career since the beginning and now I have taken the leap to make it a full time company. I wake up every day wanting to be better than I was yesterday, even if it's only in a small way. This drive pushes me to keep learning, growing, and dialing in all my skills to continue striving for excellence not only in my craft, but also in my business.
