Mujeres De Exito Chimaltenango Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy more seasonal clothing and shoes at the wholesale level.

Mujeres De Exito Chimaltenango Group's story

Maria, the Secretary of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Mujeres de Exito Chimaltenanngo,” is 40 years old and a mother of three children (8-17). She has a business degree but has been unable to obtain work like many in Guatemala.

Several years ago, Maria opened a business selling shoes, clothing and backpacks from the United States. It is now time for her to buy more inventory, and she is requesting a Kiva loan to buy more seasonal clothing and shoes at the wholesale level.

She has great hope for her children to have a brighter future and secure employment. On a daily basis, Maria thinks of this as she works hard at her business.

There are seven Maya Kaqchikel women in the Trust Bank who live in the department/state of Chimaltenango. They each have small businesses that range from selling catalogue items, tortillas, second hand clothing, and regional snack foods, and sewing pillows and sheets. Other ladies are farmers. They look forward to their monthly meetings when they encourage each other, make loan payments, participate in educational trainings and have access to health care services. The educational trainings are essential to their success and give them much needed information about business, health, family and themselves. The useful combination of loans, education and healthcare services is called “Microcredit Plus”.

Maria and her friends greatly appreciate the generosity of Kiva investors in funding their essential loans. Thank you to each of you!
