Gertrude's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy cereals to sell at her local market.

Gertrude's story

February (the month of love), is the shortest month of the calendar. As you enjoy this month with your loved one, extend this love to Gertrude.

When she was very young, she learned from her mother how to carry out all kinds of farming tasks; thanks to that, she now practices crop and dairy animal farming. She is also involved in other side businesses for extra income.

One of the side businesses in which she is involved that is lucrative and which she seeks to grow is cereal trading. She started this business with a loan she had borrowed from Kiva. By brokering cereal produce, Gertrude is able to generate additional income for her family. Basically, in the trade, she aggregates cereal produce from local farmers and sells it to her network of buyers at a higher price.

She is requesting an emergency loan to buy more cereal produce from local farmers. She will later sell it at a higher price, using her understanding of the market conditions and prices. She will use the income generated from this investment to repay the loan and pay for the upkeep expenses of her family. Gertrude is very thankful in advance.
