Monicah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy different varieties of cereals such as cowpeas, lentils and rice to sell in the local market.

Monicah's story

Wonderful Kiva lenders, meet Monicah, a practical woman who takes all responsibilities on her farm to heart and works toward her goals. Her passion and enthusiasm for farming have gained much respect in her village, and she is treated as a mentor by her village counterparts.

She practices mixed farming to make ends meet. Monicah wakes up very early to go to her farm, and although she makes a profit from farming, she is not comfortable and has always wanted to increase her income by selling cereals. Therefore, she is seeking this loan to buy cereals. Kenya's Eldoret area, one of the country's most populated regions, has a high demand for cereals. This means that Monicah could increase her profits and satisfy local demand.

She aspires to be a job creator in her village through her cereal business. Like Monicah, many smallholder women farmers await your help.
