Lina's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more farming inputs and hire new laborers to grow more crops on a single mom's farm, and therefore expand her farm operations.

Lina's story

Wonderful Kiva community, International women’s day is fast approaching next month! Meet Lina, a single mom. To lead a comfortable lifestyle has always been the dream of Lina, a smallholder farmer who works with a lot of care and perseverance to achieve her objective. Today, she has a farm where she grows crops and raises livestock. She also earns some income from a personal business.

Lina never had a formal university education and is content with the farming lifestyle. Her childhood was very challenging, and because of this, she promised herself that she would work hard to get out of poverty.

Lina is seeking a loan in the amount of 60,000 KES, which she will use to pay for more farm inputs and to hire laborers to grow more crops on the farm. It takes a lot for a smallholder farmer to risk limited available resources to expand in the farm business. With your help, Lina will be able to pay the high cost of farm inputs necessary for expansion. A significant portion of the profits will be invested back into the business to fuel growth, as she wants to set a good example and foundation for her children.

She really hopes for your help and contribution, and she thanks you in advance.

She is looking forward to a fruitful 2019 and empowerment during this international women’s day celebration.
