Ayn's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as fertilizer to help improve her crop farm.

Ayn's story

Ayn is a smallholder who practices dairy and crop farming in a remote village in Kenyenya, Kenya. To her, farming is the only means of securing the basic necessities of life.

Most people who live in Kenyenya depend on farming as their way of securing a livelihood. The major challenge, however, is the huge deficit in access to farming inputs that lowers farmers' production. Juhudi Kilimo has partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers in all areas of Kenyenya now can buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms.

Ayn has requested an emergency loan which she will use to buy farm inputs such as fertilizer, herbicides, and pesticides. This loan will enable her to improve her production through use of quality farm inputs. This intervention will help her fill the increasing demand for food in the market and in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and elevate the quality of life for her family.
