Catherine's Group's story

Catherine is the group leader who appears in the photo. She is representing 15 farmers from Webuye District, Kenya. Catherine is a mother of six children and is known in her community for being a very resourceful person.

Catherine joined One Acre Fund in 2010 because she wanted to earn enough to feed her family. Since joining the program, she says that her life has improved and that she has gained a great amount of respect in her community. With the profit she earns from this upcoming harvest season, Catherine plans to buy chickens.

The 15 members of Catherine’s group will plant a total of nine acres of land with the maize seeds and fertilizer they will receive. In addition, some of the members will be purchasing a solar light. The group will receive a total of seven solar lights.
