A loan helped to buy cost-efficient maize seeds and fertilizer for the coming harvesting season.
Dinah's Group's story
Pictured above is Dinah, who leads a loan group with nine members in the Kimilili District of Kenya. She is the mother of six children and is known in her community as a very reliable person. Dinah joined the One Acre Fund in 2010 because she wanted to earn enough to feed her family. Since joining the program she says that her life has improved, especially because she has been able to consistently feed her family. With the profits from the coming harvesting season, Dinah plans to send her children to school. The nine farmers in Dinah's Group will plant a total of 2.5 acres of land with the maize seeds and fertilizer received with the loan. Additionally, six of the farmers in the group will buy solar lights to use in their homes.
