Edwin's story

Special people in the Kiva portal!

Edwin is a repeat Kiva borrower who believes that hard work is the price tag of success. Despite the back-breaking labor that he puts into his farm, his income is not sufficient to meet the demands of his family. This is because water is a big problem in Litein, where he lives.

Edwin works to raise animals and grow horticultural crops, which is work that he began out of economic necessity. Edwin started practicing mixed farming ten years ago; he grows maize and also keeps dairy cows. He has gained so much experience through these years of farming.

Edwin is taking this loan to pay for the installation of a complete drip irrigation kit and water tank. This will help him to solve the problem of water shortages on his farm by optimizing the use of available water and minimizing waste.

His crops will therefore take a shorter period to flower, and thus he will reap handsomely. The water tank will also be used to harvest rain water that otherwise always goes to waste. Edwin thanks his lenders in advance for their goodwill in his life.
