Makwiramiti Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to restock more chickens to meet the increasing demand.

Makwiramiti Group's story

Margret is a hard-working woman who is 44 years of age. She is a married mother of three children paying $200 in school fees every term. Her husband is self employed; he does welding and sometimes helps her run the business. She lives in a medium density suburb of Harare.

Margret is in the business of buying and selling fully formed chickens. She buys her young chickens from nearby farms. She then fattens them and sells the chickens in a high density suburb of Harare called Glen Norah. Margret started this business six years ago and it has helped her sustain her family.

In April 2018, Margret’s business started growing and she needed to finance this growth, hence she approached Thrive Microfinance. Margret formed Makwiramiti Group with her two business friends and attended the training sessions conducted at Thrive. The group got another loan recently from which Margret used her share to restock more chickens to meet the increasing demand.
