Gadys's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to expand her turkey business.

Gadys's story

Gadys is a 21-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her parents in Hurungwe district in Zimbabwe. She has a poultry project in which she keeps turkeys. With her first Kiva loan, Gadys expanded her project by purchasing more turkeys and building a more significant foul run. She used the profit she earned to obtain a passport and to buy clothes and food for her family. Gadys is now requesting a second loan to purchase more chicks and feed. She plans to use the profit she earns to further her education and start operating a butchery. Gadys will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering 2.5 hours per week as a Camfed Transition Guide, supporting other young women who are just entering Camfed’s alumnae organization, Cama, by delivering an orientation course with weekly sessions on topics including health, financial literacy, and career guidance.
