Rashida's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a hair dryer, braids, shampoo, weaves, and hair oil.

Rashida's story

Rashida is 18 years old and lives in the town of Bulenga in the Kiyinda region of Uganda. She is married and has one child. For the past 1 year, Rashida has been working hard to manage her beauty salon, which plaits hair, braids, and weaves.

To help expand her business, Rashida has requested a loan of 1,300,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy a hair dryer, braids, shampoo, weaves, and hair oil, and will help Rashida to generate greater profits. Rashida will thus be able to increase her profits enabling her to provide for her family, pay school fees for her child and improve on standards of living. Rashida hopes that in the future she will be able to build rentals.

Rashida is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
