Leonela Nicole's story

The town of Portoviejo was badly affected by the April 16, 2016 earthquake. It is a town that is rich in the production of vegetables, greens, and tropical fruit for domestic consumption.

18-year old Leonela is in a common-law relationship and has a 4-year old son who attends school. She is 3-months pregnant. Her husband is a cleaning assistant at a private business. They live with her in-laws.

Leonela earns her living selling a variety of clothing for men, women, and children. She accepts orders from her customers by going daily door-to-door for four hours. She buys the merchandise in Guayaquil from distributors and then collects money from her customers on a weekly basis.

With this new loan Leonela plans to buy pants, shirts, t-shirts, bermuda shorts etc. Her dream is to have her own house.
