Chipere Group's story

Shylet is a member of a group called Chipere, she stays in a small village with her husband and her four children. She is 29 years old and her husband does painting. Shylet has been in the business of buying and selling second hand clothing which she restocks from Mbare for two years. This business has managed to give her and her family a decent living.

Shylet decided to join Thrive Microfinance with her four friends and they formed a group called Chipere after Thrive Microfinance visited their area. Thrive Microfinance conducted training sessions which Chipere group attended and they were taught on saving and recording business transactions.

The group is now on its second loan. The profits that Shylet obtained in her first loan were used to increase her product range as she has now engaged into kitchenware and floor polish. On the second loan she used her share to restock kitchenware and floor polish for her business.
