Faith's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy quality farming inputs such as certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers which she plans to use on her farm.

Faith's story

With no one to share the day-to-day responsibilities of feeding her children and making important family decisions, Faith, a mother, ventured into farming. Faith, lives with her family and sustains them using the proceeds of her farming. She is the sole breadwinner in her household. The main reason she started farming was to give her children hope for a better life. On her farm, she practises dairy and crop farming.

In Kenya, agriculture is one of the most competitive industries, especially due to the high cost of operations necessary to improve farming. Such costs include the cost of land acquisition and inputs, which have always skyrocketed. To meet the high costs of inputs, farmers have been forced to borrow from financial institutions, which sometimes impose very complicated procedures in loan distribution. Some farmers, especially women, end up in hopelessness, despondency and with lack of morale to invest in agriculture.

Faith has borrowed this loan so that she can use it to buy quality farming inputs such as certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers which she plans to use on her farm. With these inputs, Faith will be assured of a good harvest, which will consequently be reflected in her pocket. This loan will be a turning point for a mother in 2019.
