Doris' Best Female Farmers Group's story

Doris (1st on left), featured borrower of Doris' Best Female Farmers, is a Master Farmer in Patebana Masinbo village and has a large family of 7. She is a strong leader in the community, and regularly organizes activities for young female farmers. A seasoned farmer who lost her business during the Ebola crisis, Doris refuses to give up despite loosing a lifetime of work and helped organised a large group of other women who similarly had prospered before the crisis, lost everything but now will not give up. All members are currently trapped in a cycle of subsistence and take extremely high-interest loans for poor quality inputs during planting time. A no-interest KIVA loan will therefore enable this group of determined women to get back on their feet and back in business.
