Santa Isabel Xenacoj Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy parts for the sewing machines, as well as lubricating oil, fabric and cones of thread.

Santa Isabel Xenacoj Group's story

The Secretary of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Santa Isabel Xenacoj” is 32-year-old Marta, who is married with a 7-year-old daughter who has completed kindergarten. Marta has a 2nd grade education.

She has a textile workshop with 50 employees who sew canvas pants. These people are then able to support their own families! Marta is requesting a Kiva loan to buy parts for the sewing machines, as well as lubricating oil, fabric and cones of thread. A Kiva loan will help her do this!

There are 7 Maya Kaqchikel ladies in the Trust Bank that is located in the department/state of Sacatepequez. They proudly wear their colorful traditional clothing that consists of a black or blue woven wrap-around skirt along with a red “huipil” or blouse with elaborate embroidery. The women have businesses like bookstores, women’s clothing and traditional textile fabrication. They are requesting their 1st Kiva loan.

In their monthly educational trainings, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education and healthcare services, the ladies are eager to learn about effective business practices, and how to care for their families best (nutrition, hygiene, health) and themselves (women’s rights/roles, self-esteem, empowerment).

Thank you to Kiva investors from all parts of the world who learn about these women and fund their much-appreciated loans!
