A loan helped to restock clothes for the festive season.

Mumhuri Group's story

Shelter is a cross border trader, restocking from South Africa and Zambia and selling her products in a shop which she rents. She is a married mother of three children, two of whom are school going, and pays $40 fees every term. Her husband operates a flea market in Harare. She started this business four years ago in an effort to improve her standard of living.

In May 2018, Shelter and her three friends formed a group and named it Mumhurwi. The group registered with Thrive Microfinance and she managed to get financial assistance. On their first loan the group managed to get a combined loan of $850 and from that Shelter got $350 which she used to restock clothes for her shop.

She acquired household property and reinvested in her business as she added an electrical appliances section in her shop with the profits generated on the first loan. On this loan, she restocked clothes for the festive season.
