Alika's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to rent a place and purchase stock of used clothing for trading.

Alika's story

Alika is 31 years old from Kutaisi, in the west part of Georgia. He lives with his housekeeper wife and two little daughters. Alika is the only breadwinner in the family, and gets a small income from working as a private artisan. His income is insignificant in meeting all family expenses.

Alika requested a loan from Credo to start a trading business. His loan request was approved in the framework of a joint initiative by Kiva and Credo. The start up loan program provides start up credit soft conditions for the country's rural poor, who, regarded as "high risk borrowers" because of their low income, do not have access to credit products. With the received credit Alika will rent a place for the store and purchase stock of used clothing to sell locally at increased prices.

The new business initiative, financed with the Kiva startup loan, will significantly increase the family's income and the family members will be able to improve their living conditions.
