Nickson's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy another cow to improve his milk vending business and use the profits to improve his life.

Nickson's story

Nickson has been farming for the past few years. Thanks to his effort and dedication, he always has good milk and crop production.

Nickson works tirelessly every day of the week on his farm. Dairy farming has always played a core role in the Siongiroi area of Kenya. Since Nickson has had children, his personal and financial obligations have skyrocketed. He has tried different ways to make money but keeps coming up short.

Nickson decided the best way to increase his income was to improve his farm's productivity. To increase milk production, he could either buy more cows or replace the existing cows with more productive breeds. The latter of which makes more economic sense. Traditional breeds are well-adjusted to the environmental conditions and are disease-resistant, but their milk production is very low. Crossbreeds and Frisians are more productive and can survive in the same environment as the traditional breeds, but they come at a price.

Nickson is seeking a loan from Kiva lenders to purchase a productive dairy cow that will bring more income and improve his milk vending business. Nickson really hopes for lenders' contributions and is looking forward to a warm response.
