A loan helped to buy more mayonnaise, milk, sardines, toiletries, and other essential items to sell.

Cecelia's story

Meet 40-year-old Cecelia. She is married with two kids, aged 13 and 16 years. Both of her children live at home while in school.

Cecelia is a high school graduate. She runs a retail business selling mayonnaise, milk, sardines, toiletries, and other essential items. For the past four years, she has been operating her business. She learned how to sell from her dearest mother and started this business with her own earnings. She transports goods to her business site by the means of a taxi. She says she enjoys selling because sales are fast with a lot of profits, and she is proud of her business because it helps to support her family. She sells six days per week.

To help expand her business, Cecelia applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva field partner. With this loan, she will buy more mayonnaise, milk, sardines, toiletries, and other essential items to sell. In the future, she wants to become a big businesswoman and continue her children's education. She wishes to say "thanks."
