A loan helped to provide capital to restart her son's wholesale distribution business.

Saleema's story

Saleema is a 46-year-old married woman who lives in the area of Lahore, Pakistan, with her spouse and three sons. She wants to take a loan to support her elder son who also appears in the photo. He is a salesman who supplies goods to general stores. His daily routine involves transporting inventories of snacks, toffees, cookies, bubble gum, chocolates, and other products from wholesalers and delivering them to retailers with his loader rickshaw.

A few years ago, her son was in a road accident with his rickshaw and fractured one of his legs. He temporarily had to resort to doing other work and earned a very low salary. Now that he has recovered from his injury, her son wants to restart his sales business, but he does not have enough cash on hand due to depleting his savings because of his medical expenses.

For this reason, Saleema is requesting a Kiva loan so that her son can restart his sales business. She hopes that her son can easily reestablish his business and contribute to the household expenses as before. Saleema is extremely grateful to Kiva and BRAC Pakistan.
