Juaben Ladies Group's story

Mariama is 38 years old, married, and the mother of three children, all of whom are in school. She has been sewing for five years now, specializing in womenswear and funeral dresses. Her skills and designs are of high class. She makes various kinds of clothing styles to give her customers a new look – for example, children's school uniform, church attire, kaba and slit (a tailored top and long skirt), wedding dresses, funeral clothes, etc. She wants to use her loan to buy increased supplies of sewing materials such as linen, threads, thimbles, etc. to increase her output and efficiency. Through her dedication and hard work, she has two apprentices to whom she is providing quality training for their future work.
Mariama is the leader of a trust bank group called ‘Juaben Ladies’. She is pictured in the middle of the group photograph. Most of the members of this group are small traders or food traders. In this group, members guarantee for one another as social collateral to access the loan and peer pressure to repay the loan.
